For more about the USFWS head to www.fws.gov The Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuge Complex is the largest refuge complex in the state of Mississippi and includes both the youngest (Holt Collier and Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuges) and the oldest refuges (Yazoo National Wildlife Refuge) in the state. Over 100,000 acres of refuge lands on seven refuges, including 13,000 acres

of refuge-managed Farmers Home Administration lands, provide vital habitat for fish and wildlife in the Delta region. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and enjoy the wild side of Hillside, Holt Collier, Mathews Brake, Morgan Brake, Panther Swamp, Theodore Roosevelt, and Yazoo National Wildlife Refuges.

Heads-up to Panther Swamp NWR users:

Office hours at Panther Swamp NWR will be closed on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

USDA Wildlife Services will conduct aerial operations to remove feral swine across Panther Swamp, Hillside, Morgan Brake, Theodore Roosevelt - Brown Tracts, and Yazoo National Wildlife Refuges Feb. 16–27, 2026.

Expect low-flying helicopters during this period. Crews will be cautious of hunters and dogs. Do not be alarmed by these activities.

All refuge offices are closed through Friday, January 30, 2026, as staff gain access and power restoration to the office buildings. However, the refuge grounds remain open to public use.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please use caution and remain aware of possible icy or hazardous conditions.

Due to a recent Presidential Order, December 24th and 26th are deemed as Federal Holidays for 2025, along with Christmas day (Dec. 25). With that being so, office personnel will not be available during that time.

According to county officials, the bridge is expected to reopen in mid- to late October.
