Cumberland County Food Security Council

Cumberland County Food Security Council Educating, Advocating, and taking Action for a Hunger Free Cumberland County. Everyone is welcome!

Please join us at our next bi-monthly council meeting (check our 'Events' section to see when and where the next meeting will be held). The CC Food Security Council is made up of engaged citizens, community leaders, and representatives from local organizations that are leading the fight against hunger in Cumberland County and across Maine. Our efforts focus on educating our community about why our

neighbors are food insecure and what can be done to create greater food security in our county. We advocate for policy changes and decision-making that support systemic change and ground level action. We believe that we can accomplish more together and that collaborative advocacy and collective action can produce a hunger-free Maine.

What do a T-Rex and our gleaning truck have in common? The amount of pounds they haul around town!

Help us continue our gleaning program this season by volunteering in the fields and farmers markets collecting produce & distributing it to our partners around Cumberland County.

The notable T-Rex housed at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois, “Sue,” is estimated to have weighed about 19,400 pounds while alive.
