The last cemetery/burial ground I saw on my vacation was the African Burial Ground in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This one brought me to tears. I found this thought provoking. Obviously Agnis was cared about on some level that compelled the family to have a stone for her. However, she was buried with no last name. And of course one wonders about her feelings about Samuel Russell and this says servant but was she a servant or was she enslaved?

So I bet you all visit cemeteries on vacation also. After seeing the cemetery from the witch trials we asked a docent there where we should go with the hour we had left and he said Old Burial HIll in Marblehead. It probably added an hour or two to our travel but it is an amazing cemetery. Here are some photos and I will share a few more this week.

Here are pictures of the cemetery next to the Witch Trial Memorial where many of the perpetrators are buried. There is a map with the historic stones marked and I caught many of the individual stones also. You can see some of them have been encased.
