🎣 Fish-for-Free Day is Coming Up

This Sunday, May 24, is the first of two Fish-for-Free Days in Pennsylvania, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The second Fish-for-Free Day will take place on July 4.

On these special days, anyone — residents and visitors alike — can fish without a license. No Trout/Salmon or Lake Erie permits are required either.

Grab your fishing gear, head outdoors, and enjoy Pennsylvania’s waterways with family and friends. Whether you’re an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, it’s a great opportunity to spend time outside and explore local streams, lakes, and rivers.

Pennsylvania graduate students pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and other health-related fields could soon have access to new financial support through the PHEAA.

The agency recently launched a new Medical and Health Professional Loan Program in response to the possible elimination of the federal Graduate PLUS Program. The goal is to help students continue pursuing advanced degrees despite rising education costs and tighter federal borrowing limits.

The program includes:
• Competitive fixed interest rates
• No application or origination fees
• Flexible repayment options
• Deferred repayment during residency, fellowship, internship, research, and other clinical training
• Potentially less reliance on co-signers

PHEAA also continues to offer financial support for graduate students pursuing degrees in engineering, education, law, MBA programs, and other fields through its Graduate Loan Program.

I saw this water bottle filling station, with the public service announcement above, while at Council Rock High School North to see the Sock ‘N Buskin production of Sweeney Todd. My bill , HB 1139 recently passed in the House and would require the installation of water bottle filling stations like this in newly constructed and substantially renovated state buildings, to help reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles while improving public access to clean drinking water.

The 2026 PGA Championship is underway at Aronimink Golf Club in Delaware County, with practice rounds continuing through Wednesday and championship play taking place Thursday through Sunday.

SEPTA has created a dedicated webpage with travel information for fans attending the championship.

Shuttle buses to the championship grounds will operate from Paoli Station on the Regional Rail line. Riders must present a PGA Championship ticket to board the shuttle.
Shuttle hours:
• Monday–Wednesday: 6:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Thursday–Friday: 5:45 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
• Saturday–Sunday: 6:45 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

SEPTA is also adding extra service on the Paoli/Thorndale Line throughout the event:
• Weekdays: Trains every 30 minutes
• Weekends: Trains every 60 minutes

Riders can pay using contactless credit/debit cards or mobile wallets across all SEPTA services, including Regional Rail. Additional fare options such as SEPTA Key cards and passes are also available.
