Sheriff Toulon led a graduation ceremony for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Fall 2025 Interns.

The graduates learned the various facets of law enforcement during the 16-week program. They visited numerous SCSO commands during the program, including tours of both of our correctional facilities, Marine Patrol, Academy Bureau, Domestic Violence Bureau, First District Court and the Civil Bureau. Outside of the Sheriff’s Office, the interns also met with District Attorney Ray Tierney, visited the County’s Fire Academy, and tested their driving skills at the County’s EVOC course. Many of the graduates plan on this experience serving as a stepping stone to their future law enforcement careers.

Students in Ms. Maloney’s Health Classes at South Ocean Middle School received a special visit from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office last week, where they learned about how Deputy Sheriff and Correction Officers help keep Suffolk County safe, the importance of making good life choices, and the potential dangers that social media poses to teenagers.

We love reconnecting with retired members of the SCSO at community events, but with a 342 year history, we always seem to be visited by those who retired over 250 years ago every single Halloween! 💀

Local residents got into the spirit of Halloween at the Saints Philip and James Catholic Church’s Trunk-or-Treat event in St. James today. 👻🍬🚔

Instead of flashing lights and sirens, officers decorated the trunk of our Sheriff vehicle, distributed treats and bonded with kids in costume.

The event offered an opportunity for local children to fill up their candy buckets, and an opportunity for families to meet their local first responders.

With over 3.8 million views in the past few weeks, most of you know we had a great time at the Town of Brookhaven Senior Picnic last month, with Deputy Sheriff Hever hitting the dance floor with attendees, but did you know he, alongside Correction Officers Higgins and Yacovone, helped save a man’s life at the very same event?

A big thank you to Walmart for their generous donation of 20 cases of water to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, which was used at our 2025 Open House & Family Day. We are extremely grateful for your continued support and partnership in serving our communities!

On National Coffee with a Cop Day, we visited White Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center to make meaningful connections over some delicious coffee and treats. During our visit, we discussed personal safety and exchanged laughs, smiles….and even a few dance moves with the residents and staff! ☕️

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office visited Walter G O’Connell High School in Copaigue for the Copiague PTA Council’s Fall Festival to help keep local children safe through Sheriff Toulon’s Operation Safe Child program, which provides parents child ID cards at no-cost. 🪪

These cards can greatly assist law enforcement when responding to a child’s disappearance. The cards contain the child’s full name, date of birth, gender, height, weight, hair color, eye color, and more.
