✨Bridging Yankton – Step Forward to Prevent Su***de Walk Committee Member Spotlight ✨

Today, we’re featuring Gavin Zimmerman and his personal “Why I Serve/Walk.”

"I joined the bridging Yankton committee because I wanted to help people who are hurting. If you’ve ever struggled with suicidal thoughts, you know how difficult it can be. So many su***de victims had so much more to offer that was cut short and when I found out there was a way I could make a difference for someone, I jumped on it. I’m proud of the impact we have made and look forward to seeing that grow in the future."

Thank you, Gavin, for sharing your heart and for helping us Step Forward together.

Mark your calendars for the 10th Annual Bridging Yankton – Step Forward to Prevent Su***de Walk THIS Saturday, September 12th at Riverside Park. Registration begins at 8:15am.

✨Bridging Yankton – Step Forward to Prevent Su***de Walk Committee Member Spotlight ✨

Today, we’re featuring Dr. Jennifer Cliff and her personal “Why I Serve/Walk.”

"I still remember my first experiences with su***de in high school. We lost two of our classmates, one while still in school and one right after graduation. The second seemed to have the world by the tail, everything going for him. Once I became a counselor, I walked alongside youth and parents who were struggling. You never know what someone is going through until you stop to listen and truly see them. My "why" and passion for the work that we do comes from a place of wanting to serve and support others, helping people understand that we are never alone. There are people who care deeply, and this world is a better place when we are in this together. Standing with those who are hurting and feeling alone can save lives. If we reach one person, it is work that is well done. That's why this walk is so important! Coming together because no one should walk alone."

Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing your heart and for helping us Step Forward together.

Today, we’re featuring Nick Kurtenbach and his personal “Why I Serve/Walk.”

"I am honored to be a new member of the Bridging Yankton Committee. As a member of the Yankton community and a current medical student at USD, su***de and its impact are topics that are personal to my life and important to my future career caring for others. I believe this event brings important awareness to our community while also providing valuable resources and information for those who are currently struggling or have been personally impacted by su***de. I hope to continue spreading su***de awareness through Bridging Yankton while using these experiences to become a physician who can best serve my patients and community."

✨Bridging Yankton – Step Forward to Prevent Su***de Walk Committee Member Spotlight ✨

Today, we’re featuring Jesse Bailey and his personal “Why I Serve/Walk.”

"My “why” is rooted in the belief that a strong, resilient community is one where people care for one another, recognize when someone may be struggling, and are willing to step in with compassion and support. During my time working at Pathways Shelter for the Homeless, I saw firsthand the devastating impact of su***de, including the loss of several former clients. Those experiences have stayed with me and reinforced the importance of awareness, empathy, and connection. Through my work with United Way and Bridging Yankton, I have the opportunity to help build a community where people feel supported, valued, and reminded that they are never alone."

Thank you, Jesse, for sharing your heart and for helping us Step Forward together.
