🍩 Happy National Donut Day to everyone and Happy 605 Day, South Dakota!

Today is a pretty big deal around here—it's National Donut Day and 605 Day! That means we're celebrating two of our favorite things: our great state and, of course, donuts.

While we can't confirm every police officer stereotype, we can confirm that a box of donuts in the break room doesn't usually stick around very long.

Whether you're enjoying a glazed, chocolate, sprinkled, or filled donut, take some time to celebrate all things South Dakota today. Just remember—donuts are best enjoyed parked, not while driving!

The results are in! The Yankton Police Department participated in the Click It or Ticket campaign from May 11–31, 2026, focusing on seatbelt enforcement and traffic safety throughout our community.

During the campaign, officers made the following traffic related contacts and arrests as shown in the chart. Thank you to everyone who buckles up, drives responsibly, and helps keep our roads safe. Remember, seat belts save lives—every trip, every time.

For nationwide Click It or Ticket results, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) compiles national and state-level statistical outcomes—including citations issued and usage rate shifts. Post-campaign surveys and reports are due by late June. https://www.nhtsa.gov/campaign/click-it-or-ticket
