What do Naches, Moxee, and parks have in common? They’re all on the agenda for tonight’s Yakima County Planning Commission meeting!

We’ll be reviewing the Land Capacity Analysis for Naches and Moxee. Basically, checking if there's room for future homes. Then we'll be diving into Part 2 of the Parks & Recreation Element (because housing is better with green space).

Come listen in, learn more, and maybe even fall in love with zoning. (Hey, it happens.)

Tonight’s Planning Commission meeting dives into the Land Capacity Analysis for Sunnyside and Selah, which is a fancy way of asking: do we have enough space for the homes, businesses, parks, and goat yoga studios of the future?

Want to know how planners figure out if there's enough room to grow? Curious about how these decisions shape your neighborhood? This one’s for you.

Planning Commission Meeting Tonight. Because everyone deserves a place to call home.

Affordable housing isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a real challenge affecting neighbors in every corner of Yakima County. That’s why tonight, we’re talking about it.

Join us as we dig into the Housing Element of our Comprehensive Plan. We’ll look at how we make room (literally and figuratively) for all income levels to find a place to call home, whether that’s a studio apartment, a farmhouse, or a granny flat out back.

We’d love to hear from you, because land use planning may not sound thrilling, but it shapes everything from where we build homes to how long your commute is. And let’s be honest: this beats doom-scrolling the news again tonight.

📢 Planning Commission Work Session Tonight

Yakima County is beginning the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan as part of the state’s required GMA periodic review.

Tonight’s work session will focus on the Economic Development and Parks & Recreation chapters because strong economies and good parks don’t just happen, they’re planned. It’s a meeting about the future, with decisions that quietly shape daily life. We’d appreciate your voice at the table.
