November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American peoples. It’s an opportunity to learn about the diverse histories of indigenous nations and reflect on their enduring presence and resilience. Whether through storytelling, art, music, or community events, this month reminds us of the importance of acknowledging Native peoples’ heritage, promoting respect, and understanding.

This Native American Heritage month, we invite you to take the time to learn about the Yakama Nation, a vibrant and resilient Indigenous community with rich history that spans centuries. The Yakama people, whose ancestral lands lie in the beautiful Columbia Plateau region, have deep connection to the natural world, with traditions in agriculture, fishing, storytelling, and spiritual practices that have been passed down through generations.

Explore their culture, their stories, and the ongoing work they do to preserve their heritage. By understanding the history and contributions of the Yakama Nation, we not only honor their past but support their future. To learn more please visit Yakama Nation Cultural Heritage Center website.
