📢 Yadkin County Update!

The Yadkin County Board of Commissioners has approved a resolution requesting that voters consider a one-fourth of one cent county sales and use tax referendum on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

If approved by Yadkin County voters, the tax is estimated to generate approximately $980,000 annually to support local schools, economic development initiatives, and fire departments while helping reduce reliance on property taxes.

Stay informed! Additional information will be shared through an educational campaign leading up to the November 2026 election. 🗳️

We would also like to share the final update regarding the Sales and Use Tax survey.

Thank you to everyone who participated and provided feedback throughout this process. Your input has been extremely valuable in helping us better understand the expectations and perspectives of our citizens, and we sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with us.

As a next step, the survey feedback and voter participation totals will be presented to the Board of Commissioners during the June 1st morning meeting. At that time, the Board will vote on whether the Quarter Cent Sales and Use Tax referendum will be placed on the November 3rd, 2026, ballot.

We encourage all citizens to join us for the meeting. For those who are unable to attend in person, a Zoom link will be provided Monday morning for virtual viewing.

Yadkin County Offices will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 26.

Today, we pause in grateful remembrance to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to duty will never be forgotten. On this Memorial Day, we remember not only the heroes who gave their lives defending our freedoms, but also the families and loved ones who continue to carry their memory in their hearts each and every day.

May we always strive to live in a way that reflects the values they fought to protect and honors the legacy they left behind.

American Legion State Commander Devell “BO” Durham Jr. will be the guest speaker.

☔ In the event of rain, the service will be held at VFW Post 10346 in Hamptonville at the same scheduled time.

We invite our community to come together in remembrance, gratitude, and honor for those who gave all for our country.
