The Wild Land Fire season is here and we have crews already deploying.

Yesterday evening, three (3)of your Clark County Fire District 13 Firefighters deployed with the Clark County strike team to the OIE Fire in Benton County Wa ( Benton city) This fire was reported to be 500 acres and growing with evacuation orders active. Resident Firefighters Wala Ben-Abdallah, Richard Quintero and volunteer Firefighter Hunter Bauska departed the Yacolt fire station last night at 20:00 hours and joined several other crews from multiple Clark County agencies for the overnight drive to the fire camp. We wish our members and all fire crews safety during travel and firefighting operations.

Additionally, this morning you may notice some moderate smoke sitting through the Yacolt valley, especially looking up towards the silver star area. There is no active fire in our area as of right now. The smoke is being brought into the area from distant fires and winds.

Engine 51 and Chief 52 responded from the Yacolt Fire Station to this incident to provide mutual aid to our neighboring department. Despite the incredible efforts of FD10's first arriving units , under extreme fire conditions, the outcome was not what any of us hoped for. CCFD13 extends our condolences to the family, friends or the victims.

⚠️❄️Clark County: Heading up to higher spots like Dole Valley Rd or Yacolt Burn this week? Colder weather is here—snow levels dropping to ~1,000 ft, with possible light accumulations and slick/icy roads above that. Daytime highs in the low-mid 40s, overnight lows ~30s. 🥶

Quick prep:
• Check tires & pack chains (Do your tires have a 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol?)✅
• Bring blankets, layers, snacks, charger ✅
• Drive slow, watch for black ice ✅
• Use offline maps (cell service spotty) ✅
Stay safe out there! Tag a friend hitting the hills. 🚗🌲
