The City of Xenia is hiring Part-Time Court Security Officers to join our team.

The City is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Court Security Officer. This role provides security services for approximately 20 hours per week at City facilities. Applications are being accepted for both armed and unarmed Court Security Officers.

Pay is $30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include monitoring and screening pedestrian traffic before entering secure areas, detaining wanted persons, maintaining peace within the court environment, and responding to emergencies promptly and effectively.

A water main break has been reported in Old Town along Route 68. Our crews are on-site this morning to assess the damage and begin repairs.

Water pressure may be disrupted throughout the day in the affected area while repairs are underway. At this time, we do not know the full extent of the damage or how long repairs will take.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to restore normal service as quickly as possible!

The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather across our area this evening into the overnight hours. Storms may bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, lightning, large hail, and the potential for isolated tornadoes.

The greatest threat is expected between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Thunderstorms will move into the region this evening and continue overnight. Severe storms are possible. Damaging wind is the main threat, though large hail and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out. These storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours, resulting in localized flash flooding.

Shawnee Park will be closed to fishing from now until Saturday morning in preparation for the Fishing Derby. The pond has just been stocked, and we want to make sure the fish are still there so every child has a chance to reel one in on derby day.

Thank you to Carl Conover and Boy Scouts Troop 362 of Xenia for volunteering their time on June 11, 2026, to spread mulch at the Phenology Garden across from Xenia Station at 150 Miami Avenue.

Maintained by the Greene County Master Gardener Volunteer Program, this public garden is one of more than 35 phenology research gardens in Ohio. Volunteers track seasonal plant changes to help farmers and gardeners determine the best times for planting and pest management based on local climate conditions.

The garden is free and open to the public!
