🎉 Happy Retirement, Mark with Greene County Sanitary Engineering Department! 🎉
Greene County would like to congratulate the Director of Sanitary Engineering, Mark Chandler, on his retirement and celebrate an incredible 34½-year career in the public utility industry.
Mark’s journey began in 1991 with the Village of Byesville, following several years working in the coal mines of eastern Ohio. From there, he grew into a certified Ohio EPA water and wastewater operator and served as Wastewater Superintendent until 2009. He then spent 10 years as Operations Superintendent for the Delaware County Regional Sewer District before bringing his expertise to Greene County in 2019 as Deputy Director of Operations & Maintenance. In July 2023, Mark was promoted to Director, where he has led with knowledge, dedication, and integrity.

The start up and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Northwest Regional Water Plant.
💬 What will you miss the most?
Working with my co-workers and customers.
💬 What are you looking forward to in retirement?
Relaxation, traveling, and spending more time with family.
Throughout his career, Mark has been passionate about mentoring others and sharing his knowledge in operations, budgeting, planning, and system design. Above all, he hopes his legacy is defined not just by the work he’s done, but by the relationships he’s built and the people he’s served.
We are so grateful for his service and all that he has contributed over the years, and we wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement. Enjoy this next chapter, Mark—you’ve earned it! 💙
