I was honored to join community members, local leaders, and advocates at Reading’s Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony in City Park.

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is a day to reflect on our nation’s history, honor the resilience of those who came before us, and recognize the ongoing work of expanding opportunity and equality for all.

The ceremony served as both a remembrance of the past and a celebration of the progress our communities continue to make every day. As we honor this important day, let us recommit ourselves to building a future where freedom, opportunity, and justice are accessible to everyone.

Thank you to the NAACP Berks County Branch for organizing this meaningful event and for the invitation to participate in this important commemoration.

Tuve el honor de acompañar a miembros de la comunidad, líderes locales y defensores durante la ceremonia de izamiento de la bandera de Juneteenth en City Park.

Hello neighbors – some of you may have recently received messages about HB 2632, and I wanted to clarify this legislation for you.

This does not take one penny from these scholarships – anyone saying that is attempting to mislead you. The bill seeks to improve transparency, accountability, and reporting requirements for educational tax credit programs that currently represent a $680 million public investment. Since your tax dollars pay for these tax credits, we’re making sure the money is being spent to help kids.
