Final post on the election:
The first thing I want to say is that I wouldn't trade all the friends and volunteers that stepped up to support Burr & I, for the world. THAT is what I consider to be the real victory in all of this. I got to work with a wonderful counterpart- Burr Robinson. What a great man. If you didn't get to know him before, I encourage you to do so.
I also want to say that I always stayed true to me and stayed with my principles. I always spoke the truth. I call it as I see it. There is never any pretense with me and I will never BS you. I gave up my job over this- I don't regret that at all- never did. Win or lose, I will never be one to cave in to political pressures and strong arm tactics. I have been this way for the past 45 years, I'll be this way I am sure for 45 more.
Now history- back at the end of 2013, I had several friends/acquaintances ask me if I was planning to run for SCC again. At the time, I told them I really didn't know. It gets tiring constantly banging my head against a wall and dealing the past 2 years with people at the ORP that I truly didn't trust (for good reason). I also know too much about how things REALLY are up there and at some point it will crash and burn- and I wanted to be off the committee before that happens.
I knew they hated me up there because I was not a rubber stamp and was one of the only ones willing to stand up and try to hold them accountable to the voters. These friends/acquaintances asked and sometimes begged me to run to keep fighting for them.
Because of this I decided to file. I knew they (ORP/Kasich) would recruit someone to run against me, but decided I would not just hand it over to them. If they want it, they would at the very least have to work for it and spend a ton of money to get it done. And I planned to work hard but have a lot of fun with it.
Mission Accomplished- she spent probably over $12,000 on this race- and I enjoyed every minute of it!
I always had the attitude that, if I win, I win and would continue to speak up for conservatives here in SW Ohio. If I lose, I still (personally) win because I wouldn't have to deal with their crap anymore. The past 2 years, I hated being there. The committee prior to the 2012 coup was actually a good place to be. While I did not agree with Kevin DeWine on everything- and he always KNEW when I didn't- I at least felt that he would listen and tried to be there for ALL candidates. He also had a very competent team with a lot of experience in those jobs of Exec. Dir, Political Dir, etc. People were put there because of their skills and not because they were the henchmen of a certain official (and completely incompetent for such a job).
If history repeats from those recruited in the 2012 coup- those they recruited will be disillusioned soon enough and CF will see that she was used by them and also that she will NOT be able to "stop Obamacare" or create jobs" as she claimed when running. (I still don't think she understands what the SCC is). She will be expected to sit quietly, don't ask questions, fall in line and vote for everything they put in front of her without question.
I HONESTLY (and I mean this) do hope that she, as a CPA (did any of you realize she was a CPA???), will actually take a close look at their balance sheet and finances. She should understand it (like I did). It should be eye opening for her. I wonder if she will speak up like I did. She claimed to be all about solutions---- good luck with that!-- though she should be prepared to be facing her OWN ORP-backed opponent in the 2 years if she does indeed speak up.
I am not going to be optimistic that she will speak up though. She likes her board positions and titles too much.
For the sake of the State Party- and the country in 2016, I hope we get it together but not too optimistic with what I have seen. It is a shame. Here, we DO have it together and we have a Chairman who understands that you should let the people decide the primary AND TRUE Conservatives are NOT the enemy. I will continue to work with our local Conservative Republican candidates here in Hamilton County (because I believe in the candidates- NOT because I expect something in return).
Thanks again for the support!! See you out on the campaign trail!
