North Texas Municipal Water District

North Texas Municipal Water District NTMWD is the wholesale provider of high quality potable water plus wastewater & solid waste service

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), created by the Texas Legislation in 1951, is a wholesale provider of high-quality drinking water to nearly 1.7 million residents about 80 cities across 10 counties in north Texas. In addition to water treatment and delivery, NTMWD also provides regional wastewater treatment and solid waste disposal services. Rates for services are set at cost, no profi

ts are included, and no taxes are collected. NTMWD prides itself as stewards of water quality and environmental protection while providing services that sustain residential, commercial, and industrial growth in the communities served. The NTMWD’s water conservation program is being aggressively implemented to extend existing available supplies and as a water management strategy. Conservation, the wise and efficient use of current water supplies, and reuse strategies are estimated to comprise more than 25 percent of the future water supply by 2060.

The 1-2-1 Regional Disposal Facility hosted the annual TxSWANA Road-E-O this past weekend. More than 100 solid waste professionals came to Melissa, TX to compete to see who would walk away with a belt buckle.

The NTMWD crew cleaned up, with 13 participants placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, along with all three Top Gun prizes.

Thanks to the support and hard work of TxSWANA, the competitors, their supporters, and our volunteers for a successful event.

The Bois d'Arc Lake north boat ramp is open again!

Thanks to steady rains, our north boat ramp, located on FM 1396, has been reopened for launching. 🛥️

As American Wetlands Month comes to a close, we're back at the East Fork Water Reuse Project to learn more about one of the largest constructed wetlands in the country. A reservoir's worth of water is naturally filtered by plants before it is pumped back to Lavon Lake, our primary water supply. 💧

Visit the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center to find out more about the wetland and all of the wildlife that makes it their home.🦅

*Correction - there is an entrance fee for people 13 years of age and older. These fees help the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center fulfill its mission to educate the public and provide research opportunities in the areas of water reuse, quality and supply, wildlife conservation and wetland systems.

It’s ! 💦

Most of the work that keeps drinking water safe happens quietly in the background.

Our operators run the treatment process.
Our lab collects and analyzes samples.
Our field crews maintain pipes, pumps and equipment.
Our engineers plan upgrades and improvements.

It’s steady, everyday work that keeps your water safe and reliable.
