The City of Wylie began as a small Texas town 135 years ago, becoming one of the fastest growing communities in North Texas. Known as the City Between the Lakes, Wylie offers its citizens recreation opportunities on and around Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard. Our parks system boasts more than 650 acres of parkland including ball fields, playgrounds, walking trails, open space and preserve. The Mu

nicipal Complex scheduled opened in early 2011 features a 44,000 sq. Library, 47,000 sq. Recreation Center, and 46,000 sq. City Hall. Designed by nationally known firms Architexas and Holzman Moss Architecture, the complex features green building and energy saving initiatives. Many of the materials are native to Texas including Austin Stone and Mesquite in-grain flooring. Special consideration was taken to ensure that the unique, one-of-a-kind design compliments the beautiful landscape and takes full advantage of the open meadow, sloping topography, trees and creek. The Municipal Complex is the perfect location for future events, walking trails and public art displays. Thanks to 5 Loaves Ministries and Smith Public Library, beginning June 15, children ages 3-17 can receive a week's worth of lunches and dinners to take home each Monday through August 3.

This summer looks a little different.

Due to changes in summer meal program availability across our area, many children may have fewer opportunities to access free meals while school is out. That's why 5 Loaves Ministries is partnering with other incredible local nonprofits and community organizations to help bridge the gap and ensure children have food on the table throughout the summer.

Together, we believe no child should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

Beginning June 15, children ages 3-17 can receive a week's worth of lunches and dinners to take home each Monday through August 3.

When organizations work together, lives are changed. We are grateful for the partners, volunteers, and donors who make programs like this possible.

Campers designed and sewed their creations during Summertime Sewing Fashion Week, painted beautiful coastal landscapes and ocean waves, sharpened their skills on the basketball court, trained to become superheroes, exploded into hands-on science experiments, twirled and danced, unlocked the secrets of magic, and unleashed their creative writing skills.

Wylie Juneteenth is 5 days away! Live Entertainment, Music, Kids’ Zone, Vendors, Food Trucks, and More

Wylie’s 7th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration is a community event to celebrate and educate residents on the history of Juneteenth and its significance to Texas.

The celebration will take place at Olde City Park in downtown Wylie.

Admission is FREE!

Wylie’s 7th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration is a community event to celebrate and educate residents on the history of Juneteenth, and its significance to Texas.

The celebration will take place at Olde City Park in downtown Wylie.

A Family Fun event that will include, DJ, Live Music & Entertainment, Dance, Storytelling, Free Concessions, Bounce Houses, Games, Trivia, History, Health & Wellness, Food Trucks & Local Vendors.

One of the highlights of last night's City Council meeting was the distribution of proceeds from the 2026 Taste of Wylie. Mayor Matthew Porter presented a donation check to 5 Loaves Ministries, Amazing Grace Food Pantry, Wylie Community Christian Care Center, and Hope for the Cities, organizations that work year-round to help families facing food insecurity in our community.

What began years ago as a fundraiser for the Christian Care Center has grown into a beloved community tradition. Now managed by the City of Wylie, Taste of Wylie brings together local restaurants, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and residents for a great cause. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, this year’s event raised an incredible $46,072 to support local food pantries. Thank you, Wylie, for once again showing the power of a community that cares for its neighbors.
