It's Monarch Monday! And today we are reposting this excellent information shared by Gardening Success Tips. It's time to get to know your milkweed options 🙂

🦋 Skip Tropical Milkweed—Choose Natives for Monarchs 🌼

Not all milkweeds are equal when it comes to helping Monarchs.
Tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) may seem pretty, but it stays evergreen in warm areas—causing problems for migrating butterflies and spreading disease (OE).

✅ Instead, plant native kinds that naturally die back in winter and support healthy Monarch migration:
• Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca, Zones 3–9) – classic native host 🌱
• Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata, Zones 3–9) – loves moist soil 💧
• Butterfly W**d (Asclepias tuberosa, Zones 3–9) – bright orange blooms 🧡

🌿 These natives feed caterpillars, support pollinators, and keep the Monarch cycle healthy year after year.

Storytime has returned for the summer! Come join us for Storytime this week. Stickers are required for entry and can be found at the Children's Desk an hour before Storytime.

Family - For all ages in English and Spanish on Mondays at 6 pm
Infant - For 0-11month old, non-walkers only, on Wednesdays at 10 am
Gentle - For all ages on Wednesdays at 2:15 pm. Please note, Gentle Storytime is for children who require a quieter, calmer environment. For more information, please visit our Gentle Storytime webpage.
Toddler - For 1-2 year old on Fridays at 10:15 and 11 am
Big Kid - For 3-5 year old on Wednesdays at 10:45 and 11:30 am and on Thursdays at 1:30 pm

Registration is now open for James Wand's Tween Magic Class for 4th-6th graders. Join us in watching some fun magic tricks and learning how they are done! Registration is now open for our Teen Dinosaur Terrariums Summer Program. Learn more from the Master Gardeners how to create your own "mini" Jurassic Park in the form of a small indoor ecosystem, a terrarium! Summer Kickoff has begun! The Municipal lot of full, so please head to the north parking lot of Colin College and take the shuttle over or walk and cross at Brown Street. See you soon!

Summer Kickoff starts in just under an hour at 9:00am! The Municipal parking lot will close once it is full. Overflow parking is the north lot of Collin College with a shuttle picking up right in front of the Campus Commons. Or you can walk over at the Brown Street Crosswalk.

We are partnering with Community Christian Care Center and their Adulting Well participants to offer brewed pot coffee and K-cups on Wednesday mornings.
