Rockwall mother accused of fatally stabbing her 9-year-old daughter remains behind bars on a $2 million bond after being transferred from the Cass County Jail to the Gregg County Jail.

Allison Elizabeth French, 37, was arrested March 29 after Cass County authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a severely injured child at a home near Bloomburg, Texas (near the Texas-Louisiana border), according to Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe.

Deputies were dispatched around 6:40 a.m. to a residence after a woman – later identified as the child’s grandmother, Jacki Kubin – ran to a neighbor’s house to seek help. Kubin told investigators she awoke to find her daughter attacking the child. She was injured while attempting to intervene and was unable to call 911 herself due to her wounds.

When officers arrived, they found the child suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead just before 9:30 a.m. The victim was later identified as Abigail French.

Authorities said French fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found abandoned. Cass County volunteer firefighters used a drone to locate French and she was taken into custody the same day. She was initially hospitalized for treatment of self-inflicted injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

On April 30, French was moved to the Gregg County Jail where records show she faces a charge of capital murder of a person under 10 years of age – a crime punishable by death or life imprisonment without parole.

The investigation remains ongoing and no motive has been released. Officials have not said why French was transferred to Gregg County.
