The City of Wyandotte has contracted with Alโ€™s Asphalt Paving Co. to perform concrete road reconstructions as part of the 2026 HMA Resurfacing Program. Phase 6 of the project includes the streets listed above and is scheduled to tentatively begin on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. This phase of the project will be completed in stages over a period of approximately ten (10) weeks. During construction, properties may lose access to driveways up to fourteen (14) days.

The street will be closed to through traffic during working hours, except for emergencies. The street will be repaired one-half at a time to allow traffic to continue after working hours. Please park vehicles in other locations when contractors are working on your street so that work can be performed in a safe and timely manner. Home owners will be permitted access to their driveways unless the adjacent road is being patched.

We apologize for the inconvenience this work may cause you. The City and Alโ€™s Asphalt will limit the inconvenience as best as possible. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Early this morning, our community learned of the heartbreaking loss of our dear friend, Jaylin Thomas. Many of us first came to know Jaylin through the school district, and through his involvement with the Wyandotte Transition Program, he became a friend to so manyโ€”elected officials, city and school employees, and countless businesses up and down Biddle Avenue.

You may have seen him riding his bike through the community or greeting familiar faces at one of the many city events he never seemed to miss. Jaylin always had a kind word. He asked about our families, our coworkers, our neighbors. He never forgot a name or a face, a gift that amazed us all.

Jaylin was a shining light in our communityโ€”always smiling, always lifting the spirits of the people around him. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel included, often pulling us close for a selfie and capturing moments that have now become treasured memories. He was a friend to all, someone whose warmth, sincerity, and genuine care made every space brighter.

As we mourn his passing, we hold close the joy he brought into our lives. His kindness and his love for people will continue to echo throughout our community. Jaylin showed us how powerful a simple smile can be, how meaningful a small moment shared between friends truly is. Our community is forever changed because he was part of it, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
We will carry his light forwardโ€”in how we treat one another, in how we show up, and in how we honor the beauty of connection that he embodied so naturally. Jaylin touched so many hearts, and his memory will remain a guiding presence for us all. We are richer for having known him.
