Week 2
(Sorry its late, been a whirlwind of a week)
This week let’s talk about making sure your trailer and hauling vehicle are in good working condition. Tires, brakes, bearings, floors, lights, doors/lathes, fluids on the truck.
While you’re out there, check the emergency kit in the trailer and/or truck. Replace any old batteries, check the fire extinguisher, make sure all meds are current and replenished, pull old ones no longer in use out. Check that any treats and/or feed in the trailer is fresh, replace the water in your trailer (both bottled for people, and any bulk water for animal use). Check quantity and condition of halters/leads and any other evac equipment you may have in the trailer.
Before fire season, go thru all the paperwork you have for your animals and update anything that needs updating (dog lic, vacs for all pets, update photos of animals, if need be, remove animals you no longer have, add new ones you have acquired) Make sure all pics and proof of ownership papers are included as well as microchip numbers listed.
These are all important steps to make sure you are ready for fire season. Yesterday there was a fire off the 138 already, so be ready!! It may be an early fire season after all that rain!!!
