This morning we stood side by side with Wrightsville Fire Craley Fire Department Hellam Township Police and Yorkana Fire Company to honor those who tragically lost their lives on the September 11th attacks. Today marks the 25th anniversary of a day as a country we can never forget. Not only do we honor and remember the emergency service members who paid the ultimate price that day but all of the innocent people who passed away during the attacks.
World Trade Center (New York City): 2,753 people died, including 343 firefighters, 23 police officers from the NYPD, and 37 officers from the Port Authority.
The Pentagon (Arlington, Virginia): 184 people died, including 64 people on American Airlines Flight 77 and 120 people inside the building.
Shanksville, Pennsylvania (Flight 93): 40 passengers and crew members died (44 total including the 4 hijackers).
In total 2,996 lives were taken this day and we shall never forget the events that took place on this day 25 years ago. we will continue to honor the memory of those who tragically lost their lives that day and the emergency service members who showed no fear when running into buildings to save as many lives as they could.
