Ford County Burn Ban

What to know…

Dry conditions combined with dry vegetation, low humidity and spring winds creates a dangerous opportunity for grassland fires.
These fires can result in the loss of property and life.

In order to reduce the danger, a Burn Ban is in effect from March 17th - May 5th, The Ford County Commissioner may revise the dates based on any changes in conditions.

Avoid the careless use and discard of smoking materials.

Open fires and campfires are prohibited although residential grill and fireplace use is allowed.

Fireworks are disallowed during this ban.

Burning for crop survival is allowed IF approved by the Ford County Fire Chief.

Enforcement will be implemented by both the Ford County Sheriff’s office as well as Ford County Fire.

Violations will be considered a class A misdemeanor when prosecuted.

Current forecast continues to show two instances of potential heightened fire weather dangers this week: Today and Thursday. Today will feature the low humidity, but winds seem to not be as much of concern compared to Thursday. Check back for continued updates!
