Today some educational materials were added to our LFL from the SelfHelp organization. There is a packet in there for a Toddler, Preschooler and School Age children. The packet included a book, resources, an activity that parents can do with kids and an article on the Importance of reading to your kids.

We bagged as many books as we could. This was in effort to control any potential spread. If you have an opportunity to bag the rest or bag books before putting in, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, please try to keep one side for children’s books and the other for adults. Makes it easier when perusing the selections.

And ....

The Coordinated Family and Community Engagement program which services 23 towns in Mass, (Wrentham being one of them) will be dropping off educational books and materials to our LFL. They are funded by the Department of Early Education and Care. Their primary job is getting out into the community for toddlers, preschool and school age children.

The books would include some articles for parents to help them with the little ones while at home. Maybe some activities, resources. All packets are prepared by staff using the precautions such as gloves, masks, anti bacteria soap and then put into a plastic baggie. They would suggest to you that once a parent picks up a book/baggie, they leave it in the bag for a couple days before opening it.

We are so happy they are reaching out to our community during this time. Enjoy!

Our library is still open!!!!!

We ask the following should you chose to borrow or add books:
- Wash or sanitize your hands before opening your Little Free Library.
- To be extra-cautious, clean the books with a microfiber cloth or disinfectant wipes.
- Wash or sanitize your hands again.
- Do not borrow or donate books should you or someone in your household have been exposed or displaying illness.

Additionally, we will be placing many of the books in bags to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19.

While recent data from The New England Journal of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health shows that the coronavirus is detectable on cardboard for up to 24 hours, the CDC isn’t worried about books transmitting the disease.

“For paper-based products, we’re really not concerned, and you don’t have to worry about finding ways to disinfect those materials.” said Dr. Berendes of the CDC in their March 30 presentation. “The virus, if it’s present, would be present in very low quantities and would die off quickly…. If you were really concerned, you could wait for a 24-hour period before lending the book if you were in an area of high-transmission.”
