From Police Chief Bill McGrath:

LARGE EXPLOSION HEARD WAS NOT LOCAL.

The large explosion people heard and called about was likely a large meteor entering the earths atmosphere, according to multiple sources, though nothing confirmed as yet.

The explosion was heard and felt throughout New England, shaking homes and causing many people to be justifiably concerned.

We have no reports of damage or injuries in Wrentham and haven’t heard of any injuries in the region.

The image depicted above is not the actual meteor. 😐

UPDATE/CORRECTION: All you experts in the comments section are correct! She’s pregnant and currently at the Veterinarian’s office ready to go.

Anyone recognize this poor girl? Emaciated, covered in f***s and urine, recently had puppies, dumped at the Wrentham dog park, found at 4:30 this morning, picked up by patrol officers. WE WOULD JUST LOVE TO SPEAK WITH HER “OWNER” !!!

From Police Chief Bill McGrath:

2026 KING PHILIP HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCOOTER PARADE!!! TOMORROW MORNING!

School Resource Officer Todd, reminding everyone it’s that time of the year!

Tomorrow morning (Friday) at 7:45 a.m., the 2026 senior class kicks off on their scooters from the Center Lot to KPHS.

Police will be escorting the seniors as they roll along the route. If you want to avoid the somewhat brief traffic delay, stay away from the area.

If you want to be a spectator somewhere along the route, scoot in there before the kickoff at 7:45 a.m.

Luckily the pollen count is expected to be very high tomorrow so you can blame allergies if your eyes get all teary!

Congratulations 2026 Seniors!

On behalf of the Wrentham Police Department and our residents, we extend our sincere sympathies for the loss of State Trooper Kevin Trainor who was killed in the line of duty this morning by a wrong-way driver. The driver of the other vehicle was killed as well.

Tragedies like this are stark reminders for all law enforcement officers who go to work every day doing their best to protect the public, hoping to return home safely at the end of their shift. Too often, too many, never return. God bless this Trooper and his family.

From Police Chief Bill McGrath:

TIP-A-COP for SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Wrentham Police teamed up with the staff at Evviva Trattoria this week, all to benefit Special Olympics. Ended up we received more tips here than we ever received trying to solve crimes! Officer Crosman, our very own Special Olympics Specialist when it comes to fundraising, organized this ragtag mob of wannabe waiters! Against all odds, we tended bar, bussed and waited tables and did a little hosting duty as well. Luckily we had expert guidance from the real deal staff and ultimately we out-tipped other locations, raising nearly $3,000 for these very special kiddos!
