Ohio Public Images

Ohio Public Images Ohio Public Images and the Public Images Network create positive images of people with developmental disabilities through media/PR guides and merchandise.

Our campaigns are created with key input from people with disabilities and their families, service providers, and other advocates. Some are designed for the general public. Others are aimed at specific audiences such as students, law enforcement personnel, parents of young children and bank employees. All can be tailored to fit the needs of your target audiences.

With the 50 years of County Boards of DD anniversary this year, it is a great time to get in contact with your local radio station and ask about their willingness to do Public Service Announcements thanking the community for including individuals with disabilities.
They may be open to having you bring people in to do the announcement, or they may wish to do the voice work themselves. They are likely to ask for a couple scripts for the announcement, so be ready. Below is a guide for the general number of words you can get in per typical PSA length.
Remember, free awareness efforts (such as public service announcements that do not mention your name) can be a great way to spread awareness and support of individuals with disabilities and work to strengthen and reinforce your paid outreach efforts.
You can find more general PSA information here: http://ctb.ku.edu/en/table-of-contents/participation/promoting-interest/public-service-announcements/main

Congratulations Mary Pat! Well-deserved.

Congratulations to Mary Pat Riker on receiving the Board of DD's annual Spirit Award. A longtime volunteer for Special Olympics, Mary Pat retired from the Board and then went to work for Ohio Public Images. In that capacity, she was instrumental in ten annual statewide campaigns to create positive awareness of persons with developmental disabilities. She is also a charter member and past president of Maumee Valley Civitan (now known as Partners for Inclusion).
