Leadership Worthington empowers community members with the skills, resources and opportunities to take active roles in initiatives that ensure a thriving Worthington for generations. Established in 1989, Leadership Worthington is the result of collaborative efforts by:

* the City of Worthington
* Worthington Public Schools
* Worthington Educational Foundation
* Worthington Area Ch

amber of Commerce
* and individuals in the community

Forethought on the part of dedicated citizens in the early 1990's helped to create and develop a leadership program for the Worthington area. Benefits for participants are designed to be:

* Increased leadership skills, advancing leadership goals within the community, workplace, schools, and in churches
* A greater knowledge of the Worthington area, its organizations and its current leaders, along with a network of colleagues to help benefit both the community and the individual

Benefits for the community are designed to be:

* An increasing group of committed community and workplace leaders. When individual leadership skills are developed, there is a pool that can be tapped for representatives among business, government, school and civic organizations.

*~* DEADLINE EXTENDED*~*

**OUR STUDENTS NEED YOU**

The last two school years have been very challenging for our youth. They have been isolated from their teachers and other adults in the school who may notice them and lend a guiding hand. Many students lost ground academically and need the coaching of a caring adult now more than ever.

The Student Mentoring Program provides a trusted adult mentor to selected students in the Worthington City Schools middle and high schools. This coming school year we will expand to include every high school and middle school, including the 6th graders. This means we need A LOT of mentors!

As a mentor you will meet weekly during the school day with an assigned student to talk about life, set goals, discuss challenges and strategies for overcoming those obstacles. In this program, the focus is relationship building and helping the mentee to develop life skills in decision making, problem solving, and goal setting.

SIGN UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Fill out this form to apply to be a mentor: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfKx3HTzKvB_GhqYEV8dh7fysVQextGvgQP--5BnbIkw7-AHw/viewform

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE AUGUST 15TH!

The adult program is a premier community based leadership program, focusing on  self-understanding and an exploration of systems thinking. The nine-month experiential program runs from September to May.

Service Day 2020 will be postponed to fall.

Since 1990, Leadership Worthington has activated volunteers for this community-wide event to help senior citizens and other residents in need, within the Worthington School District, with projects around their homes and property.

This event has traditionally taken place the first Saturday of May, but this year our large event will be pushed to the fall to ensure the health and safety of our community members. However, we are working with Worthington Bridges and a group of engaged community leaders to organize ways to help our senior citizens during this trying time.

If you are aware of a community member who needs assistance of any kind or would like to help community members, please subscribe to Worthington Bridges. If you have questions or concerns about Service Day, please contact Patty Cooper at 614-450-6057 or [email protected]

You can also fill out the following form if you would like to volunteer to help or if you know of someone who needs assistance.

A group of concerned children and families from the Worthington school district would like to support you during this time of crisis. We want you to be able to stay safely at home and not have to worry about having to leave your homes to purchase your day to day necessities.
