Summer break doesn’t mean the learning stops in Worthington Schools.

Our teachers are spending part of their summer diving into professional learning focused on strengthening math instruction and creating even more engaging experiences for students. We’re grateful for educators who continue showing up for students - even during summer break.

Starting Monday, June 1, construction work on roads and parking areas will begin around Thomas Worthington High School as part of ongoing facility improvements. Here’s what families, students, and visitors should know before arriving on campus this summer:

- The entrance road near the stadium will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic.
- Parking will be limited throughout the month. Spaces will still be available for sports camps and practices along the road leading to the Mirolo building in The Flats.
- Work will also take place in front of the school as the temporary parking lot is removed and replaced with green space.

In addition, both the Thomas Worthington High School and Worthington Kilbourne High School stadiums will be closed for the summer while track replacement projects are completed.

We encourage families and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution near construction areas. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we continue investing in spaces that support our students and community.

"What I’ve learned over 35 different graduation ceremonies is that if you’re interested in efficient graduations where diplomas are bestowed quickly and ceremonies are easy to park for, get in and out of, etc. then that’s certainly not us.

We’re more about the beautiful mess of attempting to make a meaningful connection for our students and their peers and between our students and their trusted adult who they chose to present their diploma."

🌟Retiree Spotlight: Anita Schonhiutt🌟

We’re celebrating Anita Schonhiutt and the countless students whose love of learning she helped inspire over the past 35 years.

Throughout her career teaching grades 1 through 5, Anita found joy in watching students grow - especially through reading. Sharing books and helping children build a love of reading became one of her greatest passions.

Lisa believes that learning is a never-ending journey.

In retirement, Anita is looking forward to traveling, gardening, reading, and spending more time enjoying the passions she loves most.
