5 Years, 8 Months, and 23 Days ago...
A committed land trust member and volunteer asked to talk about an important property on Camp Street in Paxton...
Today that property, *Rene (/Reen/) Roberts Woods*, 15.36 acres of Mountain laurel, Upland Meadow, Wetland, White pine stand, Mixed Hardwood Forest, Field Stone Walls, with some Low-bush blueberries thrown in, is finally conserved!
This elaborate partnership project is still very much underway, and there is still a lot to be done, but the key task of purchasing the property to be held for conservation came to pass today at the Worcester Registry of Deeds
And THAT is worthy of celebration!

Yesterday members of the Greater Worcester Land Trust Board of Directors met out at the Patch Reservoir Environmental Field Station for a Strategic Planning Retreat led by Jen Plowden of the Land Trust Alliance Thanks to all who participated and made this possible!

Today's Regional Environmental Council (REC) Earth Day cleanup at Cascades East was blessed with an extensive team of people! We managed to fill 32 bags after topping off the dumpster. Wild!

Afterwards, we hosted a BBQ, where the Appalachian Mountain Club - Worcester Chapter joined us to showcase their gear shed to attendees. We had a wonderful time and appreciate everyone's help!

Olivia & Christine are back at it again! Traverse a GWLT property with them & learn about the many native plants that call our area home.

These are paced hikes that can take up to two hours. The trails are rarely flat and have exposed rocks & roots, all hikes are considered intermediate.

Thunderstorms cancel, but light rain = we're on! Cancelation notices will be posted to the event page on Facebook. We encourage you to dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, and use a walking stick/poles if it is helpful for you!

Our first hike is on Wednesday, April 22 at 10 AM @ Cascading Waters! We will be keeping our eye out for Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum), and other early spring ephemerals!

We’ve already had so many great discussions with government officials and staff, and we’re just getting warmed up.
