UPDATE: sounds like we'll be going live around 9:20. Stay tuned!

We're going to Cleveland! Well, one of our Shelter dogs is going this morning, having been invited by WKYC Channel 3 - Cleveland to become a television star. Tune in around 9:00 am to see whose pawtograph will be the hottest ticket in town, and why you should want them in your home!

Despite the rain chasing us out for a bit, today was a pretty great day at Sip -n- Sniff at Bent Ladder! Lots of folks came out and enjoyed the vendors and games in the morning, and 10 of 'our' Shelter dogs got out for some socialization and a break from kennel life. We had one adoption on-site (congrats to Squash and his new family!) and lots of questions and interest in the other doggos there, who were all good boys and girls amid the busy activities. Observing them in different environments with new people is so helpful as we match them with their furever families.
We want to thank PAWS for the Wayne County Dog Shelter for their unwavering support of our Shelter dogs, always going the extra mile and coming up with fun and creative ideas to promote and celebrate them.
And also huge thanks to Bent Ladder Cider and Wine for hosting today at their beautiful facility and grounds! Your support is also greatly appreciated!
And finally to our awesome volunteer team who make days like today possible - we love you, almost as much as the dogs do!

So it would appear that the storms have passed, at least until later this evening. We will be heading back to Sip -n- Sniff at Bent Ladder around 4pm with adoptable dogs. Making an appearance will be Buddy Bear, Scrappy, Stella, and Zoinks. They will be there until they are adopted, or it rains again, or around 6:00 pm, whichever comes first!😉

💕🐾 Today was a big day for one of our shy girls. 🐾💕

While the shelter can feel like a scary place, Sun Chip got to spend some quality time with her favorite small human today, and her whole demeanor changed. Watching her relax, seek out affection, and enjoy the company of someone she trusts was a beautiful reminder of who she is beneath the shelter stress.

These quiet moments help shy dogs build confidence and remind us why every dog deserves a loving home. ❤️

A "Happy Tales" update to kick off the weekend...Falcon was one of our flock of "bird dogs" that was adopted in April and his adopter says "Falcon is doing GREAT! We love him so much. Doing very well with leash, potty, and cage when we are out for a bit. Very impressed with how far he has came."

A HUGE thanks to Falcon's adopter for taking a chance on this super sweet boy and giving him a chance to spread his wings and fly. 🩵

6/6/26 - This ornery boy was bailed out by his mom and dad and is on his way home.

This playful, silly kid was brought in overnight from Concord Drive in Wooster.

He is not microchipped and not wearing any identification.

We are calling him Elton John and he will be available for adoption if not claimed on 6/11/2026

Our pups had a blast today splashing in the pools, soaking up the sunshine, and making new friends! 💦🐶 Nothing beats a day filled with wagging tails, happy zoomies, and cool pool time!

Playgroups help our dogs burn energy, build confidence, and show off their social skills while they wait for their forever homes. ❤️

Don't let the name fool you, Squeaks has a big heart and is ready to find a family to call his own!

This sweet boy has been showing us what a wonderful companion he can be. He walks very nicely on a leash and is the kind of dog who likes to stay connected with his person. During walks, he would often look back to check in and make sure his handler was still with him, even when they were only a few feet behind. It's a small gesture that shows just how attentive and people-oriented he is.

Squeaks has also done well with other dogs and seems to enjoy canine companionship. He has shown no food issues while eating in his kennel and continues to impress us with his gentle nature.

We're still getting to know Squeaks, but one thing is already clear... he is a very sweet dog with lots of potential to be an amazing family companion. We will continue to update his bio as we learn more about him.

Boomerang is a sweet and gentle boy who is beginning to show us his playful side! During his time in playgroup, he started out shy and submissive, taking things at his own pace while getting comfortable with the other dogs. As he gained confidence, Boomerang found his groove and even joined in on the fun with a few playful interactions.

This handsome pup has a kind heart and would love a family that can help him continue building confidence and experiencing all the good things life has to offer. Boomerang has already shown us that he's willing to come out of his shell when given patience and encouragement.

We're still getting to know Boomerang and will continue updating his bio as we learn more about his personality, likes, and preferences. For now, we can tell you that he's a very sweet dog with lots of potential and is ready to find a loving home of his own!
