As the Chief of Police I’m tasked with staffing your district police department with officers who are capable and willing to go above and beyond to protect our students and staff on a daily basis. I have to say that we have a team of men working every day to provide the greatest service to your children and our staff every day. I know that I can call on our officers at any moment and they respond without hesitation.

Happy law enforcement appreciation day to officers everywhere but I have to say I am biased to the officers and campus safety specialist that ensure the safety and security of our district every day!

Some time between Friday, 12/19 after school dismissal and Sunday, 12/21 around 1:00 PM, the playground at Hewitt Elementary was vandalized with spray-painted vulgar language on playground equipment.

We are extremely disappointed by this behavior. Our schools and playgrounds are meant to be safe, welcoming spaces for children and families, and actions like this take away from that environment.

If anyone has information that may help identify the person or persons responsible, please contact the Midway ISD Police Department.

Chief Foley and Officer Fray had a great time at Woodway Elementary’s SWARM event put on by Waco PD this morning. They were able to show of the cars and the tools we use each day as well as engage with the kids and answer all the questions they had about police officers!

Stay tuned to see Chief and Officer Aguilar at Spring Valley this afternoon!

So, enforcing law is preferably on the bottom of the list of things we want to do as a school based police department. We’d much rather build relationships with the kids and steer them to the right path before they ever get off of the path!

Yesterday I got the joy of getting to read a book to a group of PRE K 3 kids at one of our elementary schools. It was an amazing opportunity to talk with the kids and start that relationship so early in life! I’m looking forward to seeing what great things these kids to in their 15 years with Midway!

🚨 POLICE TRAINING NOTICE: July 2–3 at South Bosque Elementary 🚨

The Midway ISD Police Department is partnering with local and Central Texas law enforcement agencies to host ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) at South Bosque Elementary on Wednesday, July 2 and Thursday, July 3.

You may notice a large law enforcement presence in the Badger Ranch area on these days—please know this is only a training exercise and there is NO EMERGENCY.

This training helps build relationships, improve response strategies, and keep our students and staff safe.

Thank you for your support as we prioritize school safety!

As a school district police department, we occasionally rely on the support of our neighboring agencies. One of the most important partnerships we have is with the Hewitt Police Department, who provide dispatch services for MISD PD. These men and women are often behind the scenes, but their role is absolutely vital to the success of our officers and the safety of our campuses.

Thank you to all the telecommunicators at HPD for everything you do!

***UPDATE: Good morning Midway! Prom was a success, all the girls were beautiful and guys were looking sharp as ever! I didn’t see a single kid not having a good time!

Also, I did not receive a single call last night from a stranded student, or any of our partner police departments and it looks like none of our kids are on Mclennan County Mugshots, this morning so im calling this a win!

For each of our kids at prom last night and all of our students, im super proud of each of you, love you all and can’t wait to see the great things you do in life!***

Midway high school, tonight will be one of the most memorable nights of your entire high school career. I hope that you all have an amazing time tonight, but most of all I hope that you make it home safely as promised, should any of my students end up in a situation that they feel unsafe or don’t feel that they are OK to drive home and they need a safe ride. The police department’s phone number is.254-761-5626. Call it I will answer and I will make sure you get home safely.
