Meet Amine
Amine Qourzal is passionate about Woodway. A resident since 2013, Amine has served on the Parks and Recreation Board, the Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as several years on the annual Woodway Roadrunner Festival steering committee. Amine represents the citizens of Ward 1 on Woodway's City Council by addressing issues facing our city’s rapid growth and development.
A first-generation American, a first-generation college graduate, and a first-generation master’s graduate, Amine believes in the American dream. Growing up in southern Spain where he attended grammar school and high school, Amine learned how to build cross-cultural relationships at a young age. He is fluent in Spanish, as well as conversational Arabic and French. And in case you were wondering, Amine means “faithful” in Arabic.
Amine moved to the Waco area in 2001 to attend Baylor University where he earned his bachelor's and Master's in Business Administration. He met his college sweetheart and future wife, Lisa Smith, and they married shortly after graduating. They decided to settle in Woodway because of the strong family values and wonderful people. Amine is Senior Director of Operations and Finance at Baylor's Career Center and Lisa is a stay-at-home mom. Amine and Lisa have been married 13 years and together they have three children who attend Midway ISD public schools. The Qourzals are members of Antioch Community Church in Waco.
