This year's state mandated visual inspection program will be in the southern quadrant of Woodward County. You will see our field data collectors out and about looking at every property, taking pictures, and taking notes starting in May. We make every effort to be identifiable with safety vests, photo badges, knocking at the door of residences, and leaving door hangers with our office information. Look for the red truck!

Some of you will be receiving Increase in Value Notices this coming week. This is NOT A TAX BILL. We are required by Oklahoma Statute to notify any property owners that their value is increasing. Most of the increases will be the standard 3%-5% increase in an attempt to match today's Real Estate Market. If you have any questions or believe there is an error, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (580) 256-5061.

Believe it or not, it's March!

The deadline to report personal property (farm personal, mobile home personal, and OTC Form 901 for businesses) is March 15th!

However, since the deadline falls on a Sunday this year, we will be accepting reports through Monday, March 16th (postmarks included).

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fires. We know this is a difficult time, and we want to try to make the paperwork side of things a little easier.

If you have lost any structures on your property, please let our office know. We will remove these structures from your assessment to ensure your property taxes are adjusted accordingly. If you have the section township and range of your property handy, it will make it easier for us to locate your property.

When you are ready, please give us a call or stop by the office so we can update our records for you.

The Woodward County Board of County Commissioners would like to invite the public to attend upcoming Woodward County CAPS Town Hall Meetings and learn more about the County Area Projects (CAPS) proposal that will appear on the February 10, 2026 special election ballot.

CAPS is not a new tax and does not increase the sales tax rate. Instead, it repurposes 4/10 of 1 cent of the existing county sales tax that is already being collected. For every $100 spent in Woodward County, this equals 40 cents, and that amount does not change.

If approved by voters, CAPS allows existing sales tax revenue to be used for countywide priorities such as matching funds for state and federal grants, road and bridge improvements, water, sewer, and electrical upgrades, fire and EMS service support, support for jail maintenance and operations, and economic development projects that benefit the county as a whole. All CAPS revenues are subject to annual budgeting, annual audits, and public reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.

The CAPS process is designed to be citizen-driven. Project ideas may be submitted by county departments, fire and EMS services, rural water districts, incorporated towns, community organizations, or individual citizens. A Citizens Advisory Board, made up of residents from all three county districts and one County Commissioner, will review project proposals and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. Final approval remains with the Board as required by state law, but public input and oversight are a key part of the process.

To provide information and answer questions, the Board will host the following CAPS Town Hall Meetings, all beginning at 6:30 PM:
• January 28 – Mooreland High School Gym
• January 29 – Fort Supply High School Gym
• February 5 – Woodward County Event Center

These meetings are open to the public, and we encourage residents from across the county to attend, ask questions, and share their thoughts.

The CAPS question will be decided during the special election on February 10, 2026. We appreciate the strong community engagement shown throughout this process and believe informed participation is essential to responsible local decision-making.

We look forward to visiting with the public at these town hall meetings and encourage everyone to stay informed and participate in the upcoming election.
