The City of Woodward is seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual with excellent accounting, computer, and customer service skills for the position of City Clerk.

The City Clerk performs administrative, financial, and clerical duties to support the operations of the City and ensure compliance with state and local regulations. This role is vital in maintaining accurate city records, assisting the public, and supporting the Mayor and City Council in the efficient management of city affairs.

High school graduate or equivalent required with some college with an office or accounting emphasis and Iowa Municipal Professional Institute and/or Academy training preferred. Must be able to obtain sufficient training to be a Certified Municipal Clerk within two years.

Compensation will be based on experience. Deadline for applications June 22, 2026 at Noon.

Due to the number of trees/limbs that have come down during the storm this morning, the lagoon gates will be open until 6:00pm tonight for tree debris to be disposed of.

Debris can also be put in the Right-of-Way of your property and Public Works will come through town and pick it up.

Friends and Neighbors Day is right around the corner!! Be advised of road closures during this time.

No parking:

•Main Street on Friday June 5th 10pm through Saturday June 6th 10pm from West 9th at the south edge of town to North 3rd at the north edge of town; this includes downtown.

•June 4th through June 7th West 3rd by the Plaza; Main Street to alley.

•June 5th 10pm through June 6th 10pm West 3rd and Main to Walnut and East 3rd and Main Street to Cedar.

•June 5th 10 pm through June 6th 10pm West 2nd from Main to Walnut and East 2nd from Main to Cedar.

There will be no parking on these roads during these times.

CITY OF WOODWARD, Iowa is seeking candidates for a full-time Police Chief. Education and training requirements are standards set forth by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA). Must be able to obtain ILEA certification within one year of appointment. Prefer at least one year of law enforcement experience with preference given to ILEA certified applicants. Officer responded to Woodward Academy to assist with a medical emergency

Officer was flagged down in the 400 block of Cherry by resident who reported a vehicle being driven by juveniles yelling obscenities from the vehicle while resident’s young child was outside. Located the vehicle and found that the juveniles were yelling at another juvenile walking that they knew. Educated juveniles on behavior and they apologized to the reporting party.

Officer responded to a 911 hang-up in the S. 200 block of Main. Caller reported a miss dial. Everything was okay.

Officer responded to the 500 block of E 5th for a mental health issue. Subject was transported to a facility for mental health evaluation and services.

Officer assisted Dallas County Sheriff’s Office who was out with a motorist assist, in the 900 block of S. Main Street.

Officer responded to the library to attempt to assist in retrieving items that were checked out and not returned.

Officer responded to the 15000 block of Tanner Ln. for a follow-up investigation.

Officer met subject at the Woodward Police Department who was ordered by Boone County Court to turn over his fi****ms for safekeeping pending court case.

Officer responded to the 100 block of S. Main for public assist. Subject was needing assistance while attempting to do work on a building while having a latter that was set up on the public sidewalk. Officer provided assistance to ensure safety.

Officer took a phone call reference found property for someone that lives in Woodward. Officer made arrangements for caller to drop property off with us and we would try to locate and return property to the owner.

Officer responded to the 500 block of S. Main for a welfare check. Residents okay.

Officer responded to the 200 block of Cedar Ave. to return lost property.

Officer assisted Woodward Resource Center staff with injured animal.

Officer responded to Woodward Resource Center to assist with medical emergency.

Officer responded to the 300 block of S. Main for a public assist.

Officer responded to a complaint of a truck pulling a trailer full of bikes. The reporting party stated that the truck cab was full and there were people laying down in the bed of the truck while on HWY 141. I located and stopped the vehicle at Main and E. Third. Subjects were on the way to the trail head and reported that they had another vehicle on the Madrid side of the High Trestle Trail Bridge. Notified of vehicle passenger laws and gave warnings.
Officer responded to the 700 block of S. Main St. on a domestic. Verbal only, parties separated for the night. Assisted by Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer called out for a minor traffic accident in the Highschool Football Field parking lot. While officer was responding, subjects elected to exchange information and declined a police report.

Officer responded to report of a runaway juvinile. WPD, Dallas Co and Boon Co responded. Juvinile was located within approximately 60 minutes by WPD at the High School track meet. Juvinile was return to the parents.
