Helping Community

The Woodward Salvation Army Service Unit is dedicated to Northwest Oklahoma in Beaver, Dewey, Harper, Ellis, Woods, and Woodward Counties. I, Mike Miles, took over this service unit in July of 2015 after running the Woodward Ministerial Alliance Benevolence for the previous 2 1/2 years. When I took this position with the Salvation Army, I also kept the WMA in my office not knowing what kind of affect it would have on me in this next couple of years. The Woodward Salvation Army has went from pretty much unknown in this area to fairly known and still growing as I look for new ways to improve a helping hand. I tried doing this alone but I had to hire 2 more people as this is too big a project if us as a community want to take the Woodward Salvation Army to new heights here. I could go into all sorts of things that I have expanded into helping but I will give you the main ones in utilities, rent, clothing, food, prescription assistance, bus tickets, and fuel to doctor appointments only. This service unit spent a record dollar amount and number of clients that we helped this past year. That was all because of the wonderful donors of this community through private donations made directly here, trusts, and the 2 fundraisers in July and the holiday kettle fundraiser.
