Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department is proud to congratulate all of the graduates of the Jasper County Emergency Services District # 4 Fire Academy on this outstanding accomplishment. Completing a fire academy is no small feat, and each graduate has demonstrated the commitment and determination necessary to serve their communities with professionalism and integrity.

We are especially proud of our two Shady Grove VFD members who successfully completed the academy. Your hard work, perseverance, and willingness to learn have brought you to this milestone, and we look forward to serving alongside you for years to come.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the instructors, staff, and leadership of the Jasper County ESD #4 Fire Academy for your dedication to training and mentoring the next generation of firefighters. The investment you make in every recruit strengthens not only individual departments but the fire service across our region.

Congratulations to the entire graduating class. Thank you for your commitment to protecting the communities we all serve. Stay safe, continue learning, and welcome to the next chapter of your fire service journey.

Incident Response | Community Safety Notice

Today, The Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire off Highway 190 West after receiving a call on our non-emergency phone line.

Upon arrival, the homeowner had already done an outstanding job containing the fire, preventing it from spreading further. Firefighters quickly extinguished the remaining hotspots, containing the fire to approximately ¼ acre. Crews used approximately 300 gallons of water to complete extinguishment and ensure the area was safe before returning to service.

The homeowner asked that we share these photos as a reminder to our community of just how dry and vulnerable our vegetation has become. With the current high temperatures and dry conditions, it takes very little for a fire to spread quickly.

We encourage everyone to:

* Avoid outdoor burning if at all possible.
* Never leave a fire unattended.
* Keep water or fire extinguishing equipment nearby if working outdoors.
* Be mindful that equipment, hot exhaust systems, and even a discarded cigarette can ignite dry grass.

Thankfully, this incident ended without injuries or damage to nearby structures. We appreciate the homeowner’s quick actions and willingness to help spread awareness.

Please use extreme caution and help us keep our community safe during these dangerous fire conditions.

🇺🇸 Thank You, Church in the Country 🇺🇸

The members of the Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Church in the Country for once again inviting us to be a part of Freedom Friday. It was an honor to stand alongside our friends from White Tail Ridge Volunteer Fire Department as we celebrated our nation’s 250th Anniversary with such an incredible community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our fire engine to visit with our firefighters, learn about volunteering, discuss fire safety, and simply spend time with us. We truly appreciate the continued support our community shows to its local volunteer fire departments.

A very special thank you goes to Katie McBride for capturing these breathtaking photographs of the evening. The images of our fire engine, the American flag, and the fireworks perfectly capture the pride, patriotism, and community spirit that made Freedom Friday so memorable. We are grateful that she allowed us to share her work with our community.

🇺🇸 JOIN SHADY GROVE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AT FREEDOM FRIDAY! 🇺🇸

The Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department is proud to once again be participating in Freedom Friday, hosted by Church in the Country in Woodville, Texas, as we celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary!

In honor of America’s 250th Anniversary, a special flag raising ceremony will be held as part of the evening’s celebration, recognizing the history, service, and sacrifice that have shaped our nation.

Be sure to look for the Shady Grove VFD fire engine along the roadway! Our firefighters will be there to visit with members of the community, answer questions about volunteering, discuss fire safety, and showcase the equipment that helps us serve and protect our neighbors.

We are also proud to be joined by the White Tail Ridge Volunteer Fire Department at this event, who will be participating alongside us for a joint meet-and-greet with the community.

Whether you’re interested in learning more about your local volunteer fire departments, considering becoming a volunteer, or simply want to stop by and say hello, we would love to meet you.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Church in the Country for hosting this community celebration and for bringing everyone together to honor our nation’s history and the values that unite us.
