The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office was honored to stand alongside our MDT partners today in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

By placing pinwheels and signage on the grounds of the Wilkinson County Courthouse, we are sending a unified message that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up happy, healthy, and safe. We firmly believe in the power of prevention and remain committed to protecting the well-being of every child in our community.

We are proud to be part of a community that works together, stands together, and remains dedicated to making a difference. Preventing child abuse is a shared responsibility. It takes all of us. 💙

Throughout the month of April, we encourage everyone to join us in raising awareness. Wear blue, share the message, and help us give every child a voice. Every child deserves to be heard, protected, and believed.

This is a time to spread awareness, learn how to help, and take action. We encourage you to learn more about the work being done and share that knowledge with others.

Together, Wilkinson County and our partners are committed to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

‼️‼️‼️SCAM ALERT ‼️‼️‼️

There is a widespread text message scam that is targeting Mississippi residents, falsely claiming they owe money for unpaid traffic citations or toll road fees. These messages often threaten license suspension or vehicle repossession to force immediate payment via a malicious link. Do not click links or provide payment, as Mississippi has no Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or state-run toll roads, and official agencies do not request payment via text

‼️‼️‼️SCAM ALERT ‼️‼️‼️

Automated Notice from the Mississippi Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

Fine enforcement will officially begin on March 13, 2026.

Our automated system has identified an outstanding traffic citation associated with your record. Pursuant to Mississippi Administrative Code §16C-16.003, if payment is not completed by March 12, 2026, the following administrative actions may apply:

1. The violation will be recorded in the official state DMV records system.
2. Your vehicle registration may be suspended effective March 13, 2026.
3. Your driver’s license may be suspended for a period of 30 days.
4. A 35% administrative processing fee will be applied to the outstanding balance at the time of payment.
5. Additional legal enforcement measures and potential credit reporting impact may occur.

Please complete payment through the payment portal:

Failure to resolve this matter before the deadline may result in automatic suspension of driving privileges.

‼️‼️‼️‼️ SCAM ALERT ‼️‼️‼️‼️

If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer advising you there is a warrant for your arrest, because you missed jury duty, failed to appear in court, or owe unpaid taxes.

It’s a SCAM‼️‼️‼️

They may use your real name, tell you their badge number, give you a specific case number. All this information may lead you to believe that you are in serious legal trouble.

We want you to know this is a phishing scam. You are not speaking to a real law enforcement officer, but a cybercriminal who is trying to make you panic. Their goal is to scare you into acting without thinking. They will ask you to pay a fine by wiring money, purchasing gift cards, or sending cryptocurrency if you want to void being arrrested.

Remember, you are not in any legal trouble, and if you pay this “fine”, you’ll be giving your money directly to a criminal.

So, if you receive a call from someone threatening to arrest you unless you pay a fine immediately

It’s a scam‼️‼️‼️

Cybercriminals search the internet for public information, such as a case information or badge number, using it to make their scam appear more convincing.

Remember, Law Enforcement will NEVER ask you to pay a fine using a gift card, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency. If you are asked for these payments methods, hang up immediately.

It’s a scam‼️‼️‼️

WCSO STRONGLY URGES RESIDENTS TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION AND AVOID TRAVEL AS ROAD CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO WORSEN

We are here to provide assistance IN EMERGENCY situations, but please help us maintain clear roadways and prevent unnecessary emergencies.

⚠️ Travel Advisory ⚠️

Driving conditions are expected to be severe and hazardous due to icy roads and a Winter Storm Warning in effect. A light glaze of ice is possible, and temperatures are expected to remain below freezing throughout the weekend.

The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office strongly discourages all non-essential travel through the weekend, as roadways may become difficult and dangerous to navigate.

Please note: Towing resources are extremely limited and will only be dispatched in extreme emergency situations.

Stay home if possible. Stay safe.

01/01/2026

As we welcome the New Year, we encourage everyone in our community to celebrate safely and responsibly. If your plans include alcohol, please make arrangements in advance for a safe ride home. Driving while impaired not only puts your life in jeopardy—it places the lives of others at serious risk as well.

Plan ahead. Designate a sober driver. Never get behind the wheel impaired.

Our agency will be out ensuring the safety of our roadways and communities. Let’s work together to make this New Year’s Eve memorable for all the right reasons.

Happy New Year to everyone! 🎉🚔
