-- Military - The Colonel James Wood II Chapter, National Society Sons of the American Revolution, will present a Colonial Life campsite display, 11 AM–5 PM, Circuit Court Lawn

-- Author - John Settle, will discuss his book, "The Virginia Continental Line in the Revolution’s Southern Campaign." He teaches U.S. history at Powhatan Middle School in Powhatan, Virginia, and writes articles for the Journal of the American Revolution, 1 PM, Episcopal Sanctuary.

-- Impersonator - Quinton Castle will portray William β€œBilly” Lee, George Washington’s personal enslaved servant, 11 AM, Bonfire Bookstore; and 1 PM, Court & Water Streets.

-- Artisan - Clyde Jenkins will showcase period basketry techniques, 11 AM–5 PM, Circuit Court Lawn.

-- Family Activity - Anne Dellinger will organize a scavenger hunt for children of all ages, 11 AM–5 PM, Historic Courthouse.

-- Historical reenactor and coordinator Noah Caplan will portray John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg, minister and founding Colonel commanding the 8th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line. Caplan serves as the Pennsylvania 250 Coordinator at Historic Trappe and researches Muhlenberg to provide a first-person interpretation, including wearing a reproduction of the famous black silk clerical robe that Muhlenberg reputedly removed while preaching a sermon, at Woodstock, VA, in January 1776, to reveal his military uniform, saying, "There's a time to pray and a time to fight." - 11 a.m., Emmanuel Episcopal Church sanctuary; 1 p.m. Emanuel Lutheran Church sanctuary.

-- Nick Powers, Curator of Collections at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Wi******er, Virginia, will speak about how the Revolutionary War period impacted the Shenandoah Valley through the political, social, and civil rights movements that followed.

Our 2026 John H. Adamson Excellence in Historic Preservation Award winners were announced at our recent annual meeting and dinner. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding contributions to local heritage.

The Mount Jackson Museum was awarded for its comprehensive book, "Mount Jackson, Virginia: Celebrating 200 Years of History," a deeply researched commemorative volume detailing the town’s history from pre-European settlement to the modern era.

Also honored was world-renowned military artist and historian Keith Rocco, who served as the designer and coordinator for the 2024 80th Anniversary D-Day Omaha Beach Exhibit at the John O. Marsh National Guard Armory in Woodstock. The exhibit, presented on 10 days over three weekends, commemorated the D-Day landings through artistry, dioramas, and educational outreach.
