Stepping Back in Time: The Ole Time Festival Returns to Edinburg
On this episode of The County Connection, Sharon Baroncelli welcomes Donna Smith and Diane Cooley Lutz from the Edinburg Ole Time Festival celebrating its 45th year, the festival brings the community together for a weekend filled with history, music, dancing, antique cars and tractors, period attire, local authors, food, crafts, and plenty of family-friendly activities.
Donna and Diane share some of the festival's longtime traditions, including the Friday night hymn sing and dances, Saturday's March Through Town parade, historic presentations, old-time sports, the popular Sunday bed race, and the beloved duck race along Stony Creek. They also talk about this year's special celebration of past Grand Marshals, festival crocks, commemorative T-shirts, vendors, and the many local nonprofit organizations that participate.
Most of all, the conversation highlights what makes the Ole Time Festival special; the history, traditions, and strong sense of community that have kept people coming back for 45 years.
