Residents along Richardson Road may notice new paint marks in the right-of-way. These are placed by our county engineers to help guide the milling and paving machines as they start work on the road.

County road paving projects will start next week, the week of the 15th, with Richardson Road being the first to be worked on. Message boards will notify drivers of upcoming paving, so please keep an eye out for them!

Building bridges and building careers!

This week, two of our summer interns stepped out of the front office and right into the action at the Allendale Township Bridge project.

Project Engineer Justin showed them what goes into keeping our residents and visitors safe, overseeing the process as massive metal piers were driven deep into the ground. These piers form the crucial foundation that supports the vehicles traveling across our county every day.

We take every opportunity to get our interns out into the field so they can learn, ask questions, and gain the hands-on experience they need to be successful.

The people have spoken! The MCDOT Plow Truck Fleet has received its first three names!

In partnership with School District 200, the Help Name the Plow Program is off to a resounding start. Names submitted from all 6 elementary schools within District 200 were voted on at the MCDOT's 3rd Annual Touch-a-Truck, and we have our winners!

In 1st place was Darth Blader, 2nd place was taken by Snowlax, and 3rd place was awarded to the Blizzard Wizard. To celebrate, the newly named plows have started to visit the winning schools for a special, private Touch-a-Truck event.

A huge thank you to all the students who submitted names and everyone who came out to vote. We can't wait to see Darth Blader, Snowlax, and the Blizzard Wizard clearing our roads!

Which winning name is your favorite? Let us know below! 👇

TRAFFIC ALERT: Charles J. Miller Road Bridge Project

Starting this week, the MCDOT is beginning a major rehabilitation on the south bridge of Charles J. Miller Road over the Fox River. This essential safety project will extend the bridge's lifespan and keep our river crossings reliable!

What you need to know:

Traffic Shifts: We are currently reducing lanes to prepare for the project.

Bridge Closure: The south bridge will close as early as May 18.

The Detour: All traffic will be rerouted to the north bridge, which will temporarily become a two-way road (one lane in each direction).

Construction is expected to last through December 2026. We greatly appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the long-term safety of our county's roadways.
