Recently our detachment Ceremonial Rifle Team did our 1000 Mission. Since May of 2017 we have provided 3-Volleys of fire for any Veteran who has rated it and it was our Honor to do so. Thanks to Phil "Moe" Moser, Tom "Winger" Cissell, John "Top" Newport, Russ "Red" Johnson, Dale "Tweet" Meyer, Chuck "Gunner" Gray, Quincey "Q" Acklen, Tony "Cooch" Minicucci, Harry "Hayang" Delaney, Karen "Molly" Lawerence, Larry "Bugler" Wolst, Laura "Rosie" Williams, Ron "Chat" Welborn, Bob "Sebn" Ekholm and Eddie "Squirrel" Cranford, some who have passed, for making this happen. MARIETTA, GA – July 7, 2025 – LCpl Squire “Skip” Wells Marine Corps League (MCL) Detachment 647 of Marietta will hold a commemorative service marking the 10th anniversary of the death of United States Marine Lance Corporal Squire “Skip” Wells, who was killed during the terrorist attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on July 16, 2015. He will be honored alongside Gunnery Sergeant Thomas J. Sullivan, Staff Sergeant David A. Wyatt, Sergeant Carson L. Holmquist, and Navy Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Randall Smith, all of whom perished that day.

The ceremony is set for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Committal Service Shelter 1, Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA. The public, fellow Marines, veterans, and community members are welcome to reflect on the sacrifices of LCpl Wells and his comrades.

What a way to celebrate the 4th! Our detachment Color Guard led the parade in the City of Woodstock AND our own Harry Delany was the Grand Marshal!

We had our two tents up for selling hamburgers and water... and SOLD OUT! It was truly a detachment outing with LOTS of people there to hang out and help out.

Thanks to John "Top" Newport and Karen "Molly" Lawrence and Phil "Moe" Moser for bringing all this together. BRAVO ZULU MARINES!
