At the June 8 meeting, the Woodstock City Council unanimously approved the City’s new Pre‑Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Program, making it easier and more affordable for homeowners to build an ADU on their property.
Developed by the Community Development Department in partnership with Unity Architects, the program offers five free, pre‑approved ADU building plans that have already been reviewed for zoning, design, and building code compliance. Homeowners using these plans can expect shorter permit review times and lower design costs.
ADUs can provide flexible living space for family members, create rental income opportunities, and support Woodstock’s long‑term housing goals.
