At Monday's City Council meeting, Mayor Michael Caldwell recognized CFO Ron Shelby and the City's Finance Department because the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to City of Woodstock for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The City of Woodstock is excited to announce that Mayor Michael Caldwell has joined as a Founding Mayor. America the Entrepreneurial is the national campaign to renew America’s entrepreneurial promise in the 250th anniversary year of the United States, the world’s greatest startup.

Mayor Caldwell issued a proclamation at Monday’s City Council meeting encouraging expanded entrepreneurship throughout Woodstock. Reflecting on his own experience founding a company in the city, he stated, “Woodstock is a natural home to entrepreneurs. We are not the county seat, but we represent 3% of the geography of Cherokee County, 16% of its population, and 40% of its GDP.” Mayor Caldwell added, “We're going to continue to build the future of this incredible city on entrepreneurship.”

UPDATE! We have moved the ceremony indoors because of the forecast!

Join us for Woodstock’s 9/11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony this Friday, September 11th at 7 p.m. at The Chambers at City Center.

Together, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the bravery and service of our first responders and military personnel. The evening will feature patriotic music, guest speakers from local public safety agencies, and the retirement of the colors.

A limited number of 25th Anniversary Remembrance lapel pins will be available.

We hope you’ll stand with us in remembrance.

After Taste of Woodstock this Thursday, September 10th, the Woodstock Arts Event Green will undergo renovations from Friday, September 11th to Friday, September 18th. This project will help the space safely keep up with heavy daily use with sod removal, grading, and the installation of drainage and turf.
