The 6th Annual Ride/Walk/Run to Leave a Light presented by on will be happening on the Woodstock Square this Friday night from 7:00-10:00pm.

This is a free event - you can walk/ride/run OR come to relax and support some of our local organizations.

We would love to invite our students and families to purchase a Prairiewood shirt for next year! They can choose their house color, their favorite color, or all of the above :) This is optional for anyone.

When paying online, you can choose if you want the shirt shipped to school OR if you want it to be shipped to your home. All shirts being shipped to school can be picked up at the Meet the Teacher Event on Tuesday, August 11th OR we can send them home with your child the first week of school.

Deadline to order is July 20th.

It is a great time of year for our future 4th & 5th graders to start thinking about our 2026 - 2027 Battle of the Books library program!

This is an OPTIONAL program where students form a team of 3 to 4 people and create a name for themselves. They agree to read the ten books at home on their own. (Students can divvy up the titles so they only have to read 2 or 3 total books, or they can try to read them all).

In December of 2026, we will begin our “Battles" (during school hours). These consist of questions about the books. Students will need to have the titles and authors memorized in order to score a point. Points will be tallied. The top four scoring teams will participate in a final battle to determine the winner. Trophies and medals will be awarded.

The complete list of books was posted on ClassDojo and sent home with students in their report card envelopes. We have 5 copies of each title available in our Prairiewood Library AND they are available at the WOODSTOCK PUBLIC LIBRARY.

Read a little bit about one the books on the list below!!

This is a cute book about a polar bear named Duane and his adventures finding a home and becoming friends with the other arctic animals. The writing is clever and uses a wide vocabulary, a lot of description and the characters are positive, kind, and honest.

This summer we are going to do a series of questions that adults can ask their children to get them to open up! We are focusing on questions that make us laugh, help us get to know each other better, spark curiosity, encourage emotional expression, and strengthen your bond. We hope you will participate with us!

Kids spend a lot of their day being told what to do, so allowing them time to lead the conversation is important! There are no right or wrong answers and they get a chance to express themselves and their thoughts. Sometimes it can be hard to get kids to share (they tend to give a lot of one word answers). If this is your child, encourage them to "tell me more" or share your own answer first.

We can't wait to get the conversations rolling this summer!
