Congratulations to WFD Fire Chief Zach Hottel who was named Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year by the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs at their conference in Savannah Georgia last week.

Chief Hottel was recognized for his efforts to recruit and retain volunteers, to build stronger community relations, secure grant funding, improve department culture, and to collect/utilize department data to drive decision making processes among other practices that help modern organizations like ours thrive.

The Southern Eastern Association is a Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs that covers ten states and represents thousands of fire departments and fire chiefs.

Congratulations Chief!

Some strong storms have impacted our area.

WFD volunteers and other fire and rescue units from around Shenandoah County are operating at numerous incidents, including several involving downed power lines.

There are also several reports of trees down across roadways, so it's best to stay home.

Don't every approach downed power lines. If you see one, call your electric provider.

If you need emergency assistance, please dial 911.

Less Slicing, More Supporting: The Woodstock Fire Department Golf Tournament is coming October 2, 2026! ⛳⛳

Our volunteer firefighters are highly trained professionals, but when it comes to golf some of us don't know the difference between a putter and a 9-iron.

But we do know how to host an awesome golf tournament. All we need is some folks with some fairway skills to come out on October 2nd for a day of spectacular drives, questionable drops, and absolute community spirit.

Register your team, or consider becoming a sponsor, at birdease.com/WFD.

All proceeds go to support the operations of the Woodstock Fire Department Inc.

On Memorial Day we pause to remember all those who gave their lives while serving in the US Military.

The Woodstock Fire Department honors George Will on this special day. George was a beloved member of WFD who was killed in action while fighting in France in 1944. To date, he is the only WFD volunteer who was killed while serving in the Armed Forces.

We encourage you to visit the memorial to him in our front lobby.

It's been so long since it rained this much, you might have forgotten that is you see flood water across the road way, Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Even small amounts of running water can be dangerous to vehicles.

Be sure to monitor road conditions (some low water bridges in our area have been impacted) and stay safe as rain is forecasted to continue through mid week.
