New Grocery Cart Program Improves Food Access and Independence for Local Residents

A new partnership is helping eligible transit riders in Monroe and Noble counties get groceries home more easily. Through Buckeye Hills Regional Council’s Mobility Management program, free, foldable grocery carts are now available for older adults and people with disabilities who use public transportation, while supplies last.

These were made possible in part by a grant through the Monroe Foundation. Read more

This evening the Monroe Co. Community Foundation was pleased to host the grantees for the Expand Energy STEM grant program for a gathering! In Monroe County, the River Elementary PTO received two grants and Switzerland of Ohio schools received several grants as well.

Congrats to those who submitted projects for STEM funding as Expand Energy provided 11 grants for more than $11,000.

Thanks to those who joined the event to share more about their projects from science-based deluxe recess to rockets, Science Olympiad and Seed to Table programs, students will engage in creative science learning!

The Expand Energy STEM grant serves Monroe, Belmont and Guernsey counties.

Barb Marmie and the MRDD Board with providing crafts, Commonwealth Financial Services, Operation Warm a Friend for providing coats to kids, and all those who volunteered their time today!
