Recently our Attack (Hummer) went out of commission. We had recently bought tires for it. We don’t need them anymore. Anyone in the area that could use some new ones for spares? We have a set for sale! Message me. I have the receipt.

At 1240pm, FD was paged out to Fast Break on 77 for an ice machine that was on fire but was put out by a customer with a fire extinguisher. E3 made scene found that the small room where the ice machine was located still had a small flame. Power was turned off and water was put on the machine to cool it down. The store was smoke filled. 2 PPV (positive pressure ventilation) fans were put at the door to suck the smoke out.
Refugio Volunteer Fire Department were paged for mutual aid.

A big thank you to our neighbors, Refugio Volunteer Fire Department and Bayside Vol Fire Department, for stepping in and covering our area today.
As a volunteer fire department, daytime responses can vary—sometimes we have a full crew, sometimes just one person on the truck, and there are even days like today when no one is available due to full-time jobs, shift work, or being out of town.
We appreciate these departments showing up when we couldn’t and getting the fire knocked out quickly and safely.

⚠️ Elevated Fire Danger in the Coastal Bend

There is currently a Red Flag Warning for much of the Coastal Bend. Even if our specific area is not included in the warning zone, conditions are still dry, windy, and dangerous.

🚫🔥Refugio Co. is under a burn ban.

That means no outdoor burning — including trash, brush piles, or campfires. With low humidity and gusty winds, fires can spread rapidly and become uncontrollable in minutes.

Please use extreme caution outdoors:
• Avoid any open flames
• Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks
• Do not park vehicles on dry grass
• Be mindful when grilling or using equipment that can create sparks

🚩It only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

A little behind the scenes after the fire. One of the many things that goes on. Utilizing the gear extractor after yesterday’s structure fire to decontaminate three sets of firefighting PPE. The cleaning process removes carcinogens, soot, and hazardous fireground contaminants associated with increased risks of cancer, respiratory disease, and heart conditions.
Some of our members are fortunate enough to have 2 sets of gear to rotate.
