Truck Driver Jobs in the Army

A truck driver in the U.S. Army is called a Motor Transport Operator, or 88M. They are responsible for operating and supervising wheeled vehicles to transport cargo and personnel.

Responsibilities

* Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles, including trucks, buses, and semi-trailers
* Transport cargo and troops over different types of terrain
* Manage the loading and unloading of cargo and personnel
* Report any vehicle issues or damage
* Prepare vehicles for transportation by air, rail, or ship
* Use convoy defense techniques

Training

* Motor Transport Operators undergo 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and six weeks and three days of Advanced Individual Training
* Training includes classroom instruction, simulation, and field training in actual vehicles

Benefits Full paid training, Competitive salary, Weekends and federal holidays off, Free world travel, and Unlimited paid sick leave.

If you're already a truck driver and want to join the Army as a truck driver, you can enlist and qualify for the "Motor Transport Operator" (MOS 88M) military occupational specialty, where you'll utilize your existing driving skills while receiving additional military training specific to operating military vehicles and logistics support in a combat environment; you may even be able to leverage your civilian CDL experience to potentially expedite certain parts of the training process depending on your driving record and the specific military vehicles you'll be operating.

Key points to consider:
* Military Skills Test Waiver:�Due to your existing truck driving experience, you may qualify for a "Military Skills Test Waiver" which could allow you to bypass some portions of the CDL test required for the Army truck driver role, depending on the similarities between your civilian truck and military vehicles. �
* Training specifics:�Even with prior driving experience, you will still undergo basic combat training followed by advanced individual training (AIT) focused on military vehicle operations and logistics specific to the Army.
