Hewlett-Woodmere REMEMBERS...

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Hewlett-Woodmere community came together to remember, reflect and honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call to serve.

Throughout the District, students and staff participated in moments of silence, commemorative programs, classroom lessons and opportunities to reflect on the lasting impact of 9/11.

We remember the lives lost. We honor the courage and sacrifice of so many. And we continue to teach future generations the importance of service, compassion and community.

Hewlett High School is proud to celebrate David and Ivan on being named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit® Scholarship Program! 🏆

This prestigious recognition places them among the nation’s highest-achieving students, with more than 16,000 Semifinalists selected from over 1.2 million students who entered the competition.

We are incredibly proud of this outstanding academic achievement and wish David and Ivan continued success as they advance through the National Merit Scholarship competition! 👏📚

Today at Hewlett High School, students in Grades 9 and 10 gathered for meaningful assemblies focused on the upcoming 25th anniversary of September 11.

Hewlett-Woodmere community members Mrs. Victoria Vanunu and Mr. Ethan Lahey shared their personal stories and connections to September 11, 2001. We are incredibly grateful to both for taking the time to share their experiences with our students and helping them better understand the personal impact and lasting legacy of that day.

Tomorrow, September 11, students will continue learning and reflecting through a virtual gallery in the library featuring images and artifacts, as well as a digital learning experience through the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in Social Studies classes.

Thank you to Dr. Becky Kim, Director of Humanities, for organizing these important learning experiences and to everyone helping our students learn, remember and reflect.
