Please join us in congratulating Police/Mayor's Court Clerk Tonya Perkins and Officer Sampson on their 2025 awards.
Tonya Perkins has been with the Woodlawn Police Department for the last 5 years. She is a leader within the department and never hesitates to help an Officer out. She keeps the Officers up to date on training, keeps Mayor's Court organized, and completes monthly validations and yearly audits. She is able to do all of this while answering the phone and assisting people as they walk into the Police Department.
Tonya Perkins was recognized by Chief Williams for her incredible hard work and dedication to the Community and Department with the 2025 Chief's Award.
Officer Sampson has been with the Woodlawn Police Department 4 years. She has been a cornerstone for the Department by leading by example. Officer Sampson is well known throughout the Village because of her community interaction in the local schools, events, and dropping in at different businesses to make sure everything is okay.
Officer Sampson is a certified Field Training Officer (FTO) and trained 2 new Officers along with completing her daily duties. Officer Sampson is known for her teamwork and her willingness to drop everything to help someone. She is a Patrol Officer that also assists in detective work. She worked a long felony case for months and was able to gather enough evidence to file multiple charges on the suspect.
Officer Sampson was recognized by Chief Williams and peers as the 2025 Officer of the Year. This is Officer Sampson's second time being recognized for this award as she also received it in 2023.
