🏆📚 5 WHS TEAMS EARN WIAA SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE! 📚🏆
Huge congratulations to our Spring student-athletes! Five WHS varsity teams have officially earned WIAA Scholastic Awards for maintaining a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2026 season:
🏃‍♀️ Varsity Girls Track & Field: 3.661 GPA
🏃‍♂️ Varsity Boys Track & Field: 3.529 GPA
🥎 Varsity Fastpitch Softball: 3.525 GPA
⛳ Varsity Girls Golf: 3.400 GPA
⚾ Varsity Baseball: 3.352 GPA
Representing roughly 85 student-athletes, these teams truly embody what GRIT is all about at Woodland High School: Gratitude, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. Balancing hours of practice and competition with academic success takes tremendous work, and we couldn't be prouder of these kids!
Thank you to our teachers, parents, and coaches who continue to support and push our athletes to succeed on the field and in the classroom.

Enjoy an evening featuring local musicians, food, vendors, and great community fun! All ticket sales and donations go directly to support our TEMPO Parent Organization, helping Woodland students in music programs acquire instruments, attend field trips, and participate in competitions. 🎺🎨✨

Our Back 2 School Bash 2026 at Woodland High School was a huge success! We welcomed an estimated 500 people from our community and made sure every single student left ready for the new school year. 🎒✏️

☀️ Facilities Summer Dispatch: Week #8 ☀️

Stewarding Community Assets with Operational Excellence
We’ve reached the final week of our Facilities Summer Dispatch Series! Our grounds, maintenance, and custodial teams are putting the finishing touches on our schools to prepare a pristine, welcoming environment for student arrival on August 26.
Here is a quick look at what our crews have been up to:
🌱 Grounds Crew
Upgraded landscaping with new river rock and bark installations at WHS and NFES.
Prepared the stadium for upcoming community events.
Welcome to Robert Garces, who was officially hired permanently onto the team!
🔧 Maintenance & Operations
Replaced 48 faucets and 2 drinking fountains across the district via a grant-funded initiative.
Completed the new CES freezer installation.
Tackled a record-breaking 150 summer work orders (3x our normal volume!).
✨ Custodial & "Summer Help" Teams
Deep-cleaned, sanitized, and waxed floors, and reset classrooms district-wide.
Yale Elementary is officially 100% complete across all areas!
Custodial staff return to their normal school-year shifts starting August 17.
🌟 Employee of the Week: Josylynn Rainey. A huge shoutout to long-term custodial sub Josylynn Rainey! Josylynn stepped up tremendously to support the WHS team during a summer staffing absence, adapting quickly to complex protocols with a positive attitude. She will next be serving as a long-term substitute custodian at WMS. Thank you, Josylynn!

💙 A Fond Farewell: This is our final summer newsletter edition, as well as facilities secretary Kristen LaMarsna's last day. Thank you to the entire WSD community for your support and partnership over the years!
We welcome Candice Littleman as the new facilities secretary to continue celebrating our amazing staff.

A special thanks also to Buckeye and Walter E Nelson for sponsoring our End-of-Summer luncheon and prizes for the facilities team.

📢 Facilities Summer Dispatch | Week #7 Facebook Update
Theme: Stewarding Community Assets with Operational Excellence

We are making great progress as we prepare for the first day of school on August 26, 2026! Here is what our hard-working teams have been up to across the district this past week:

🛠️ Department Highlights

Grounds ("The Curb Appeal Crew"): W**d control and removal at CES is officially complete! Next, the team will continue landscape maintenance at WHS, WMS, and NFES, along with rock placement in landscape beds across various sites.

Maintenance ("The Backbone Operations"): The interior assembly of the new NFES modular classroom is now complete! Out of 125 summer work order requests opened, 80 have already been resolved. Coming up next: finishing outside the CES freezer, painting yellow hallway baseboards at WMS, and continuing the district-wide faucet replacement project.

Custodial ("The Transformation Team"): Room-by-room deep cleaning is coming to an end district-wide! Teams are transitioning to floor maintenance, detail cleaning, and sanitization. A huge shoutout to Yale ES for hitting 100% completion across all facility categories!

Summer Help Spotlight: A huge thank you to our summer helpers assisting with pressure washing at WMS, wall sanitization at CES, floor waxing/furniture setup at NFES, and locker maintenance at WMS.

🌟 Employee of the Week Spotlight
Kim Tolbert – Day Custodian at CES

Kim is a hard-working custodian who pays incredible attention to detail and takes immense pride in her work.
She is a whiz at burnishing the floors in the cafeteria and gym areas.
She guided her team to complete their main summer custodial tasks ahead of schedule, even with additional tasks added.
Thank you for your hard work and leadership, Kim!

While summer break is in full swing, Woodland Public Schools has been hard at work preparing for the new school year. From preparing our classrooms, campuses, and schedules to hosting summer camp programs, there's been a lot happening behind the scenes.
